Southern Crust is a project born from two crafts
— baking and photography.
As a Japanese baker and photographer living in Australia,
I capture the country’s evolving bread culture
against the landscapes and communities that shape it,
offering a perspective that unites both worlds.
When you think of Australia, what comes to mind?
The blue ocean and vast nature,
the many World Heritage sites,
or perhaps the flat white?
What we’d like to introduce here is the bread culture
that has continued to evolve in its own unique way.
In this expansive land, bread has grown to become a community hub,
and we invite you to discover this great world of bread.
